In English there are two types of letters. Do you know what they are? Right. Vowels and consonants. What are the English vowels?

Greek also has consonants and vowels. The vowels that you have learned today are alpha, iota, and omicron. There are four more to go.

Here's why this is important.

• Every syllable has one or more vowels.
• The accent is always over a vowel. You never see something like διδασvκαλος.
