Personal endings

So what are the letters in red? They are called "personal endings." These endings change to show person and number. In other words, Greek verbs use their personal endings to agree with their subject.

ἀκούω
I hear
2 sg
ἀκούεις
You hear
3 sg
ἀκούει
He/she/it hears

1 pl
ἀκούομεν
We hear
2 pl
ἀκούετε
Y'all hear
3 pl
ἀκούουσι
They hear

If the subject were ἐγω, you would saw ἐγω; ἀκούω. If the subject were αὐτός, you would say αὐτὸς ἀκούει.

Important: in the actual Greek text, the personal endings will not be in red. I am just putting them in red to help you see them.
